David Steele isn’t your typical candidate, and that’s exactly why he’s running for Williamson County Commission. Born and raised in Williamson County, David’s story is one of deep roots, incredible resilience, and a firsthand understanding of what it means to rely on - and then give back to - his community.
David Steele is a lifelong Williamson County resident with deep roots in the Bethesda community. The son of two dedicated factory workers, David learned the value of a hard day's work and the importance of neighborly support early in life - and, with both parents passing when he was young, David was raised by his older sister Rosalyn and credits much of who he is today to her care.
Over the last decade, David has faced significant health challenges, including type one diabetes, a leg amputation, and a life-saving kidney transplant in 2020 (ask him about his best friend and you’ll hear all about it!). These experiences shaped his career as an Ophthalmic Technician, where he serves as a compassionate advocate and the first line of defense for his patients. Because David knows what it’s like to feel vulnerable in a medical setting, he prides himself on being a listener who makes healthcare feel approachable and human for everyone he serves.
In his spare time, David is an avid collector of comic books and claims the Green Lantern Mosaic series as his favorite. When he isn’t working, he enjoys the simple things in life: Rice Krispie treats, his cat Izzy, and spending time with his fiancée Staci.
As a working-class candidate who balances two jobs, David understands the everyday struggles of living in Williamson County and draws personal inspiration from the idea of using one's courage to defend those who cannot defend themselves. Today, David remains focused on his mission to be an advocate for his community rooted in empathy, hard work, and a genuine love for the place he has always called home.
